It’s difficult to capture a picture of what odour pollution looks like, but below are images of the Oceana fishmeal plant in production. Each time Oceana begins production, plumes of black, white or yellow smoke fill the air, an indication that the noxious odour pollution is about to come, and this continues intermittently during their processing period.

Not only does the odour pollution negatively influence the lives of people in Hout Bay but we believe these emissions indicate the unsustainable and unhealthy practices at the Oceana plant. Oceana and the City of Cape Town claim there are no health impacts but its hard to believe this when you see the photos below. Do you think this is acceptable?
