FAHB is doing some investigation into the technology currently being used at the fish factory to determine if it is, as Oceana claims, the best that is available. Oceana have agreed to meet with a community group of engineers to detail all equipment and process being used. From there, we will be able to determine what our options are moving forward. We are also liaising with an engineering group to act on our behalf but if you are an engineer or know technical things about fish factories, and would like to get involved, we need your help! Please send an email to Helen Hays at hhays58@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!

As they seem to be in compliance with air quality emissions, and measure and certify each discharge etc. lets hot waste energy on that one, as they have a balance sheet to swamp us quickly.
should we not rather be looking for legal advice on nuisance by-laws and a right to a quality environment, and hammer the City first on that score.
thereafter investigate odour measuring equipment (available) and have that installed near the plant to force the shareholders to spend whats necessary to minimise the stink and be responsible neighbours.

Yes Barry, completely agree. There is little point to have engineers go to the plant, this was merely an outcome of the meeting held with Oceana. The Air Quality Management By-Law is what we need to focus on – if you do know of any lawyers that might be able to help us with this, that would be a wonderful help. Please let me know! Thanks…
